ebbing copper rays
of the evening sun
strewed between the bowed legs
of two centurion oaks,
an old married couple,
strolling hand-in-hand
into the diminishing light,
who turned; then smiled
one last time,
before the last flicker,
struggling against the impending darkness,
fell and welcomed the shade...
