Progress beyond Equality

The overall progress and struggle of humanity are at odds with those that perpetuate injustice in its many guises.  While the concerns of gender, racial, social, religious, cultural equality are constant highlights in the efforts towards a balanced existence, in order to achieve a better existence and quality of life for all, mere equality is inadequate.

Equality is vulnerable to the manifold risks of foolishness and indulgence. For example: one party that was once placed at a disadvantage suddenly finds itself an equal and thus embarks on the same self-destructive excesses, indulgences and foolishness that had befallen their previous tormentors. It is like revenge and the act of avenging with costly and painful after effects.

Equality is not the be all and end all of progress. Equality is but one of the facets within progress in a course that runs the gamut of evolution to revolution.

To progress is to be a better model of what was once before and having learned the bitter and useful lessons of the past.

Why should one fall under the same trap of our predecessors if we have the means to excel and strive far beyond their limitations? Do we dare to cast off selfish interests and prejudice to realise this vision with an equitable spirit?

Progress is not mere imitation of a previous status quo. Progress is a superior condition compared the previous in all tangible and intangible aspects. In our efforts towards achieving progress, universal considerations, courage and wisdom are essential sidekicks in this long haul adventure.
