It is really difficult to choose one "favorite" short story, so I'm going to choose one I worked on for my Bachelor's title thesis. "Loss of Breath" is to me one of Edgar Allan Poe's best tales; it is full of black humor, social and literary criticism. The events are presented at a fast pace, so, and following the author's own philosophy, it is easy and preferable to read the whole story "at one sitting." To understand it better, it is adviceable to get a bit acquainted with the treatment of Irony in the Romantic Movement and Poe's visions on his society and "fellow" writers. I don't want to spoil the story or your first impression (which has always been important to me) with further comments. Thanks,
