Freedom, as I see it, is not only a clear state of independance, but also a state of mind. Its boundaries can only be determined and examined by those who live its benefits. Despite our freedoms, we are still regulated and manipulated by those who head our nations. I suppose, in a way, freedom is the control that those we elect to control us will afford us.
Though our physical lives may never be truly free, our inner selves are forever free to think as we please. We can love and we can hate on a whim; we can be facinated and we can be repulsed as we see fit; we can fantasize ourselves into any scenario or act of pleasure that we please, without fear of recourse. I suppose our religious beliefs may try to dominate our inner freedom, but we also have the power not to believe..or to believe again at a later date.
Freedom is not about purity or entitlement, it is about the environments that we create ourselves and sometimes the silence that we maintain.
