Bill Boik retired from the U.S. Army as a Colonel in 2005 after 30 years of active and reserve service. He served in various Armor and Military Intelligence positions in South Korea, the United States, and Germany. In 2001 and 2002, he had the unique opportunity of leading a Joint US-DPRK Missing-in-Action (MIA) Recovery Team in search of missing US soldiers from the Korean War in North Korea. During each 30-day operation, he served as the Senior US Government Official/DoD Liaison in Pyongyang, North Korea. His numerous military awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and Air Force Space Badge.
He holds degrees from the University of Detroit, Western Kentucky University, Boston University, the Defense Intelligence College, and the National Defense University.
He is currently a senior civilian staff member at the Defense Prisoner of War/Missing Personnel Office (DPMO)
