A few years ago, anybody who spoke disparagingly of the president of the United States was immediately labeled a traitor and accused of coddling the terrorists with a back rub. Not any more. Hammering, slamming and pounding the president these days has once again become a cottage industry. A competitive blood sport. You're even allowed to call him a terrorist citing his refusal to answer the key question: "When did you stop being a Muslim?"

This is not just about the new poll that reveals one-fifth of the American public believes President Barack Obama is an adherent of Islam -- a larger percentage than when he was elected. It is obvious why this is thus. These people are idiots. Stone-crazed loons with the jellied brains of people who enjoy sticking immersion blenders up their nose and will claim with their dying breath that professional wrestling is legitimate.

By the way, Gina Misiroglu of Red Room put me in touch with the AOL people, which is one of the great ways she's bringing traffic to Red Room and getting attention for Red Room's authors.

What to do, what to do.

My standard reply when I endure an Obama slammer, who assumes I think exactly like they do, is this: "I support the Constitution of the United States of America. As a true citizen of America, I uphold my duty and respect the office of the President of the United States, no matter who that person is. I expect you to do the same in my presence."

The majority of the time, here in SW Missouri, people are not quite sure what I mean, but they catch my intention and shut up.

Yeah, Will!

I applaud this blog and the op-ed piece from AOL. You are right on target! I am so saddened by the conflict created by our President's programs, opinions, and background.

I often wonder if Ulysses (forgive misspelling), Grover, and Woodrow had to explain the origin of their names.

I am an ardent President Obama supporter but at times I question the campaign startegists that surround him. I don't buy into the "your only as good as your last election" concept. However, this seems to be the eternal mantra of politicians from both parties. Also, I wish there was more publicity about the progress the Obama administration has made in the field of education. Even a staunch conservative as Monica Crawley stated that this will contribute to the legacy of accomplishments of President Obama.

In the meantime I hope and pray that  Americans awaken to the fact that Fox news has created a new brand of ethnic cleansing. Divergent opinions are not "the loyal opposition" wearing the masks of a "Glenn Beck or Sarah Palin."

Your ideas and thought are impressive. I am now a Will Durst fan. Also, hooray to Jules Jacobs! Thanks for your thoughts!
