Wendy Brown-Baez is a writer, teacher, performance poet and installation artist. She is the author of the full length poetry collection Ceremonies of the Spirit (Plain View Press, 2009) and chapbook transparencies of light (Finishing Line Press, 2011). Wendy has published poetry and prose in numerous literary journals, including Mizna, Minnetonka Review, The Chrysalis Reader, Lavanderia, Wising Up Press anthologies, Cartier Review, We'Moon datebooks, In the Spirit of Women We'Moon anthology, and the 2011 Saint Paul Almanac.
She is the creator of Writing Circles for Healing and has taught at the Women & Spirituality conference in Mankato, A Celebration of Women on Madeline Island, Celebrate Yourself women's retreats, All About the Journey, The Aliveness Project and Unity Christ Church. Wendy received 2009 and 2010 McKnight grants through COMPAS to teach writing workshops for at risk youth which developed into an art installation called In the Shelter of Words. Currently she is the after school writing instructor at Face to Face Academy.
Wendy is the recipient of a 2012 Minnesota State Arts Board Artists Initiative grant to bring poetry and writing workshops into non-profit organizations. She founded and directed Heal the Earth poetry celebrations of Mother Earth and is curator of Soul Retrieval art exhibition.
