Weezie is a writer at Rice University and has been a writer and editor with Webster's Dictionary, Encyclopaedia Britannica, Tootsietoy, Rotary International, and the Williams College Museum of Art. She also teaches creative writing through the Writers in the Schools program in Houston.
She holds a BA in English from Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut, and an MFA in Creative Writing from American University, Washington, DC.
As the author of Throwing Like a Girl, nominated by the Texas Institute of Letters as the Best Young Adult Book, 2007, she continues to write for teenagers in her spare time.
The youngest of four daughters, Weezie was the subject of two of the five picture books her mother (Sue Felt Kerr) wrote and illustrated: Here Comes Weezie (Albert Whitman, 1967) and Weezie Goes to School (Albert Whitman, 1969).
Weezie lives in the Heights section of Houston with her husband, Rob, and their two boys Conor (9) and Matthew (7).
