In the relatively brief time that I have become a professional author my students and colleagues have asked me, "How did you find the time?"
I manage a classroom, a second job, a wife and a child and still did it. I remember the advice that Stephen King offered us. "Every successful author has to do two things. Read and write."
I made the time to write. I routinely got up an extra hour early twice a week to write and on other occasions would burn the midnight oil to write. I made a commitment to myself to write at least 1,000 words per sitting. Before I knew it I have over 65,000 words and the makings of Game, Set, Life.
If someone is struggling with the challenges of a book, take your time. Just like the journey of a thousand miles began with a single step. The journey to a full fledged novel began with the first sentence.
