Elizabeth, a widowed and wise crone, has retired and now lives in the home she and her husband built many years ago. She works hard maintaining her lifestyle and now has to consider whether or not it is still viable. Her friends think she should pack up and leave for a warmer climate when the snow flies in the winter. She looks to her Native American background and her totem for answers.
A goose comes to live on Elizabeth's lake and hurt, stays through the winter months. The goose follows its own path of trials through the following year as its life paralles that of Elizabeth's. The goose finds its mate, has a family, and looks to the teachings of the ancestors for guidance.
