Maybe someone can help me with this. For over 50 years I have heard quotes from other countries saying things about the United States. Here are a few of what is being said hence my problem. Why are statements being said accusing the US of everything from corruption to nuclear blackmail? Has the U. S. been doing things to warrant these unprecedented statements? You will notice the accusations come from countries far and wide. Here are just a few.
BBC News, Havana. May 14th, 2010 "Elizardo Sanchez, head of the independent Cuban Human Rights Commission, said the reversal of the prison sentence and allowing the marches to continue was a "sign of the times" indicating that Cuba's leader are trying to avoid bad press abroad. The Cuban authorities deny that the dissidents are political prisoners, calling them mercenaries paid by the United States to undermine the system."
jonathanturley.org May 12, 2010 "Afghan President Hamid Karzai continued his attacks on the United States. Despite demands for explanations of earlier criticism of the U.S., he ramped up the attacks by telling leaders that he would consider joining the Taliban against the U.S., which he accused of “massive fraud” in the country."
Kim Zetter. January 25, 2010 "An editorial in the People’s Daily — the primary mouthpiece for China’s Communist Party — accused the United States of doublespeak and of using “online warfare” to instigate violent unrest in Iran with Twitter and YouTube following that country’s national elections in June."
Caribbean Daily News KINGSTON, Jamaica, April 21, 2010 CMC – "Prime Minister Bruce Golding has said the importation of illegal guns from the United States is contributing significantly to the country’s worsening crime situation. He told legislators that the majority of the illegal weapons were made in the United States. Last year, more than 1,600 persons were murdered in Jamaica."
Haaretz.com Sun, May 16, 2010. "The outspoken president of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday accused the United States of demonizing Iran's president and criticized the International Criminal Court for issuing an arrest warrant for Sudan's leader for war crimes in Darfur."
BEIJING, China (CNN) February 26, 2009-- "China accused the United States of interfering in its internal affairs and those of other nations on Thursday after the State Department issued a report sharply critical of Beijing's human rights record, state-run media reported. The report turned a blind eye to the efforts and historic achievements China has made in human rights that have been widely recognized by the international community."
M. C. Apr 14, 2010, "New York - Iran has accused the United States of nuclear blackmail in a letter sent to the United Nations. Washington's new nuclear doctrine explicitly envisages using nuclear weapons against states that do not possess these weapons, a letter from Mohammad Khazaee, Iran's ambassador to the UN, said on Tuesday. Khazaee said in the letter that the statements were 'tantamount to nuclear blackmail against a non-nuclear-weapons state. The letter was sent to the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the Security Council and General Assembly.
So. There you have it. Again I'm asking why so many accusations? I have my own opinion of which you most likely will not agree. Is America actually doing what they are accused of, or are many countries just making these statements as a ruse? An opportunity to create more trouble as in stirring up the old proverbial pot? I have a problem with the latter. Within the secured confines of the almighty Pentagon and the contrdictory in terms Central Intelligence Agency there will be found classified documents, emails and shredded reports that will/would confirm the truth. So be it. Just another nail in the American policy of hiding the truth from the public, enciting more misinformation and creating further rifts between other country's governments.
