The bazaars in India looked most beautiful to me at night. The grit and grime of the streets faded with the light. The smells of incense, curry and perfumed oils, too heavy by day, were enticing in the cool of evening. Even battered wood stalls looked better in the soft glow of oil lamps where strings of cheap glass beads hanging for sale sparkled like fine gemstones.
This is how I picture the "Diamonds by the Yard" collection, like a night bazaar displaying scores of spools wound with silver chain threads randomly dotted with diamonds.
This collection by Elisa Peretti at Tiffany, previously available only in gold and platinum, now comes in sterling silver for $195-$4,600.
I'll take three yards of satin ribbon, a yard of gingham, and seven yards of diamonds, please. Don't bother with the fancy blue box. I'll put it all in my sustainable hemp tote.
I'm feeling green. . . with envy.
