Here I am to announce the beginning of my journey down a path in life reserved only for writers. I have decided that I am going to be a writer. I don't say "become a writer" on purpose because I am of the belief that if I want to become something, I have to start acting and doing the things that I would as if I already was that something. Therefore, I am a writer now and I am going to start acting like a successful writer, and doing the things that successful writers do (as soon as I figure out what those things are besides simply writing anyway).

I've already begun writing one book (non-fiction) and have a little over 4,000 words so far. I'm planning on starting to write a novel soon too though. I have what I think is a good story to tell, so I want to get it out there for others to read. But first since I haven't been writing for that long (ignoring academic papers and such), I need to practice a little bit first. So I will write a different novel first,....and what better way to do that than to dive right in by becoming a "contestant" in Nanowrimo this year? That's where I'll write my first novel as practice - I just need to figure out what it will be about first. I think I'll write some kind of sci-fi or futuristic "what if" kind of story.

Anyway, I'll be blogging about my progress towards being a well-known, successful writer/author from here on out. If you are also a beginning writer and want to follow along with me on my journey, please do by reading my blogs and commenting on them. And if you are an experienced writer who might have some words of wisdom to share with me, you're also very welcome to read along and comment as much as you want!
