Well NaNoWriMo 2009 is over and my first attempt at winning it...wasn't completely successful. I ended up with a little over 31,000 words which is pretty darn good I think. See iI have an excuse, I was only about 1,000 words behind going into the last week and a half of NaNo and then I got a new job. So I had to do a bunch of reading to get familiar with the things I would be working with, I got pretty sick for a few days with some kind of cold or flu or something that I'm just now getting over, plus I am still a full-time student taking classes online to get an MBA, so I really didn't have time to write for NaNo anymore! But that's really just an excuse. I could have finished 50k words if I had really wanted to. I just would have had to stay up a lot later each night and write mroe on the weekends. But my new job, my health, and my family were more important. Maybe next year I'll get my priorities straight and work harder on getting to 50k for NaNo! :-p
Either way though, I've got a really good start on my book and it was really, really fun writing it so I'm still pretty happy about the whole thing. Now it's time to finish (at a much slower pace of course), and then begin editing. Weeee!!!

31,000 is something!
The attempt and the thousands of words you accumulated over the month of November is something to be proud of. Congrats on your attempt. And finish that novel when you can, ASAP, while it's still fresh and new and exciting for you! Go for it!
