Uma Gowrishankar's Biography
Member Info
I live with my husband, teen aged son, and my old mother-in-law in Chennai , South India.
I write poetry, and I paint. I am an urban sketcher, I paint vignettes of Chennai, the stories that unfold around me everyday.
Writing is a very private act; a poem may be written at a sitting or stays with me long , keeps me in its embrace before finding its way to the page.
I work as an education consultant for a cluster of schools that offers a meaningful learning program to rural and small urban communities.
I practice yoga, take long walks and make time to see the evening sky every day. I maintain a terrace garden in the middle of a noisy and populated city.
