Exactly ten years ago the illegal and savage NATO bombing of Yugoslavia, triggered by the faked "casus belli" of 45 dead bodies in Racak, discovered by William Walker, a former CIA agent in Salvador that was in charge of the OSCE mission, started. Thousands of innocent people died both Serbs and Albanians died. Thousands of Cluster Bombs have been used and huge amounts of impoverished uranium spread over the people.
At the time of this brutal aggression, that even today some keep considering as a "Humanitarian War", the US had to ask permision to use the basis of Aviano in Italy. Then prime minister former communist leader Massimo D' Alema still today one of the most influential Italian politicians was eager to grant permission. After the massacre that lasted for 78 days with phisical damages still visible today and moral damages that will be impossible to erase, the NATO gained control of the Balkans and the US were quick to build (illegally) Camp Bondsteel at Urosevac. Today that is one of the most important US military bases that have granted full imperial control over the East Mediterranean the Midle East and the caucasus area.
It was well worth the effort for the Imperial power. And the season of the Wars, called Peace Operations was at its start. Mr Obama there are so many things to do to restore some trust and some legitimacy for the US role in the world. Giving up Camp Bondsteel would be a sign of that " respect" you keeep talking about.
Otherwise the suspects that you are capable of only words (message to the Iranians) would be very sifficult to dismiss. I am reluctant to open the NY Times or the other regime media today. I am pretty sure there is going to be either nothing or some obscene human rights based propaganda, possible only because of the appalling ignorance in which the Western (and particularly US) public opinion is kept.
Anybody interested in discussing humanitarian wars?
