I am an Environmental Microbiology graduate student in Montana. Born in Alaska, I moved with my family to Colorado as an infant, and spent most of my childhood on the eastern plains. My love for writing, even as a child, was showcased by my 4th grade creative writing assignment. I was the only student in the history of the elementary school to write a 30+ page short story. And, it actually made sense. When I wasn't writing or reading, I was wandering the fields of the high plains, poking at scat and identifying flowers, or watching nature programs with my father. Thus, the birth of a writer-scientist, equally concerned with words as with numbers. This tends to get my scientist half into trouble.
Being outside, hiking, learning to fly-fish and cross-country ski. Reading things that make me think, but are not always a part of my graduate school curriculum.
