What’s Next?
I’m always absolutely honored to be invited to take part in Litquake, San Francisco’s
annual literary festival, along with great writers and artists like Michelle Tea, Will Durst,
Jean Shinoda Bolen, Paul Madonna, Neil Gaiman and Devin Grayson, and last year I
blew it when, instead of responding to the publisher of “It’s So You,” when invited to
read my essay from the book, I responded instead to editor Michelle Tea, and so was
never listed to participate. But my broken heart is mended now, because this year I’ll be
on “A Kick-Ass, All-Girl Graphic Novel Panel” along with four other kick-ass women
graphic novelists. The day: October 8th, at 7 PM. The place, Books Inc, Opera Plaza,
601 Van Ness. The link: http://community.livejournal.com/notyourmothers/90602.html
Here’s a poster for the event. Come by, say hi!
And In November...
On November 8th, some of my collection and I will be in Champaign, Illinois for the Out
Of Sequence art show at the Krannert museum, University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign. Out of Sequence showcases areas of sequential art that are often
overlooked or underappreciated. These areas include the work of women and minority
artists and small press and webcomics creators. Check out their website at
http://www.kam.uiuc.edu/pr/outofsequence/
Then I’m off to Buffalo, on November 15th, for Get Graphic at the Gallery. That’s the
Albright-Knox Art Gallery. Get Graphic is a community-wide two year project designed
to introduce teens, parents, librarians and teachers to the exciting and extremely popular
literary format of graphic novels, and their website is

So if you live in Champaign or Buffalo, come by to say hello, and I promise I give good
presentation.
More on my various projects as they get done, but you can already find The Brinkley
Girls: the Life and Art of Nell Brinkley up on Amazon.com, and the cover looks great!

Your news
Thanks for giving us your update, Trina. I'm especially glad to see you're participating in Litquake. I'm perusing the schedule that festival cofounder (and your fellow Red Room author) Jane Ganahl posted over on her Author Page. I want to go to everything!
