Character Sheet

Major Characters:

Angela Ross: African American Woman, in her 30's. Angela is street smart and tough but this doesn't prevent her from having a soft side. It's her compassion for others that often gets her into trouble. Think Angela Basset or Gina Torres.

Powers/Abilities: Angela is proficient in hand to hand combat and the use of a gun. She is also a werewolf. Her monthly transformations are controlled by regular injections of medical grade silver-nitrate. Her wolf form is a hybrid one, blending the features of both wolf and woman.

Jonathan Harker: Jonathan Harker appears to be a man in his early 30's. He is tall and blonde with blue eyes. His usual attire is a trench coat with dark suit and tie. Jon is also a vampire, but very young in Vampire years. He is haunted by his past association with a particularly ruthless female vampire.

Power/Abilities: Jon is preternaturally strong, like most vampires. He is extremely agile and quick. He has a strong sense of smell, especially for blood (think shark). His other senses are also abnormally keen. He does not possess shape changing or hypnotic abilities, this may be due to his youth.

Tony Ramos: Tony is young Latin man in his mid twenties. Somewhat shy and introverted, he takes tranquilizers regularly. Tony is haunted by the gay-bashing/murder of his boyfriend. He experienced the event psychically.

Powers/Abilities: Tony is an extremely gifted psychic. His is able to pick up impressions from the objects around him.

Brandon/Eric Thibodaux: Brandon Thibodaux has assumed the identity of his brother, whom he has murdered. Brandon is very intelligent and cunning, capable of appearing meek when he is in fact very ruthless. Brandon and his coven have been sacrificing street people in an attempt to discover the secret of immortal life.

Powers/Abilities: Brandon is a Necromancer of some ability. He is powerful enough to sense and disrupt Tony's attempt to locate him psychically.

Supporting Characters

Sgt. Ed Nettles: Sgt. Nettles is Caucasian man in his 40's. He smokes cigars and coughs frequently. He has very no nonsense, direct personality.

Jessica Reynolds: Caucasian woman in her 30's, she is Angela's on again off again lover.

The Night Hunters

Act One

"Unwanted Memories"

-Page 1-

Panel 1

We see an aerial shot of the cityscape of Sun City at night. It should look like a major metropolitan city, like Los Angeles.

Angela/Caption:

"There are things that go bump in the Night."

Panel 2

We now see a very busy street at night; people walking, cars and neon signs should be visible.

Angela/Caption:

"Most people go about their daily business, oblivious to evidence of the other world; Even though it exits all around them. I guess they feel safer simply ignoring it."

Panel 3

Now we see an outdoor view of the the Sun City police department headquarters.

Angela/Caption:

"My name is Angela Ross and I'm a paranormal investigator with the Sun City police department."

Panel 4

Close up of a photograph on Angela's desk. It's a photo of her standing between Jonathan Harkness and Tony Ramos.

Angela/Caption:

"My team and I are hopefully the things that monsters are afraid of."

Panel 5

Close up of Angela's open medicine cabinet. In it a bottle labeled "silver nitrate" and a syringe are nestled among the toiletries, aspirin and cough medicine.

Angela/Caption:

"I'm also a werewolf whose monthly transformations are controlled by injections of medical grade silver nitrate. I've lived in Sun City all my life, even though I've had plenty of opportunity to leave."

-Page 2-

Panel 1

We are now taken to Angela's bedroom. This is a close shot of Angela sitting up in bed. She's sweating profusely and appears to have just woken up from a nightmare.

Angela/Caption:

"I also have nightmares. Mostly about the night the wolf attacked me. A night I survived in body but not totally in spirit."

Panel 2

Now we see Angela and her girlfriend, Jessica in bed. Jessica has her arms around Angela in an effort to comfort her.

Jessica:

"Let me guess, the usual, again?"

Angela:

"Yes, the usual."

Panel 3

Jessica places her head lovingly on Angela's shoulders.

Jessica:

"I wish you'd see someone about them...post traumatic stress after something like you've survived is common, sometimes even years after."

Panel 4

Now, Angela turns to face Jessica. She is obviously irritated.

Angela:

"Don't treat me like one of your patients Jessica. You're my girlfriend not my counselor."

Panel 1

We now see Angela who is holding her head down; she is deep in thought, embarrassed and shocked by her terse reaction to Jessica. Jessica silently looks at her, concerned.

Angela:

"I thought I did the right thing by turning myself in and registering after I was bitten. Now I'm not so sure. I feel more like a state kept pet more than anything."

Panel 2

Jessica and Angela embracing; it should appear that Jessica is doing her best to comfort Angela.

Jessica:

"You did what you had to do honey. That's all anyone could ask for."

A close up of Angela's night stand, with a ringing phone.

Phone/FX:

Panel 4

Next we see Angela answering the phone. Perhaps we also see Jessica still in bed over Angela's shoulder.

Angela:

"Hello, this is Angela, yes ok. I'll be right there."

Panel 5

We now see that Angela has gotten out of bed and is beginning to get dressed.

Jessica:

"Let me guess, duty calls?"

Angela:

"You know me, never a dull moment."

Panel 6

Now we see a close up of Jessica, who is smiling wryly and still sitting in bed. She has her knees pulled up to her chest.

Jessica:

"That's why I love you."

-Page 4-

Panel 1

We see a young man (in his late teens, early twenties) walking alone down a very ominous and dark alley way, it is late at night. He should be casually dressed; perhaps he is wearing a hooded sweatshirt and jeans. The atmosphere should sufficiently dark and intimidating

Panel 2

Three thugs approach menacingly from behind the young man. Perhaps we see them over his shoulder

Panel 3

Close up of the lead Thug's face.

Thug One:

"Well what do we have here?"

Panel 4

We see a close up of the three thugs from the waist up. They are grimacing and should look as mean and threatening as possible. Thug #3 has a baseball bat.

Thug #2:

"Poor little fairy, I think we're scaring him."

Panel 5

Now the young man takes off running for his life. The thugs are in hot pursuit; one of them has a baseball bat.

Panel 6

We see that Thug number one has caught up catches up with the young man grabbing him by the back of his neck.

Panel 1

Next, we see that Thug number one has thrown the boy on the ground. Thug number three has his baseball bat raised and poised to pummel boy with it.

Panel 2

We should see the Thugs from behind with Jonathan Harkness standing defiantly behind them.

Jonathan:

"You guys looking for a date?"

Panel 3

The Thugs turn around to menacingly face Jonathan.

Thug one

"This ain't any of your business, punk."

Panel 4

We now see an extreme close up of Jonathan grinning; we should see his fangs glinting in the moonlight if possible. Perhaps his face partially obscured in shadow.

Jonathan

"What, am I not pretty enough for you?"

Panel 5

All three thugs rush toward Jonathan in an attempt to attack him.

Thug one:

"Tonight's the night you die, punk"

Panel 6

We now see Thug number three, who has reached Jonathan first. Unfortunately for him Jonathan has him by the throat and has lifted him into the air, choking him.

Thug Three:

"...Urp..."

Panel 1

Next we see Jonathan slamming Thug Three into a wall.

Panel 4

Jonathan is now crouching and ready to avoid Thug number two. Who is rushing recklessly towards him.

Panel 5

We now see Jonathan, who is snarling with his fangs showing, punching Thug number three in the stomach.

-Page 7-

Panel 1

We see that Thug One is terrified. He has turned tail and is running away from Jonathan, who is in hot pursuit.

Panel 2

Jonathan has caught Thug One grabbing him roughly by his shoulder.

Panel 3

Jonathan has lifted up Thug One by his shirt with both hands. We should clearly see that Thug is terrified. Jonathan should look as dark and menacing as possible. This view can be as close up as possible.

Panel 4

Next we see that the Thug One, who is terrified, has slumped into a faint.

Panel 5

We see Jonathan standing over the Thug's body, which is lying prone.

Jonathan:

"What a disappointment. I at least expected a struggle."

-Page 8-

Panel 1

We see a close up of the young man.

Young Man

"Thanks, thanks a lot".

Panel 2

We see Jonathan from the front. He is turned away from the young man, who is visible over his shoulder.

Jonathan:

"Poor little lost lamb, however will you repay me? Aren't you tired of being a victim? What were you doing back here, hoping to score something?

Panel 3

We see Jonathan approaching the Young Man. He should appear grim and determined.

Jonathan:

"Don't even try to lie to me. I can smell the rock, it's all over you. Now's the time you wizened up..."

Panel 4

Next we see Jonathan is now face to face with the young man. This should be an extreme close up.

Jonathan:

"Take my advice kid; don't wander alone into dark alleys. Get yourself straightened out."

Panel 5

We see the young man running out of the alley into the well lit street. We should also see Jonathan, in silhouette, standing alone in the alley way entrance.

Jonathan/Caption:

"I hope I scared him enough."

Panel 1

We notice that Jonathan's cell phone is ringing in his pocket. Perhaps we see a close up of his overcoat pocket with text that denotes ringing or buzzing.

Panel 2

We see that Jonathan has answered his cell phone.

Jonathan:

"Harkness speaking....Yep I'll be right there."

Panel 1
We are viewing a young man sitting alone in his apartment. It's Tony Ramos. There's a bottle of liquor and some prescription medicine sitting on the table in front of him.

Panel 2

Now we notice that Tony is holding a photo in his hands. It's a picture of him with another young man at the beach, both wearing bathing suits.

Tony/Caption:

It's been three years; I should be over this by now. But I'm not.

Panel 3

We now see a close up of Tony's face. He should appear both tired and saddened.

Panel 4

Next we see Tony from behind; he has his back turned to us and is standing at an open window. He is in tank-top and pants. He is looking out into the dark street. Perhaps he has both hands on either side of the window as he looks out.

Tony/Caption

Abuelita, used to tell me that this was a gift. A special gift our family has because of our gypsy blood.

Panel 5

We are now looking at Tony as if we are standing in the street and looking up at him, through his window.

Tony/Caption:

What kind of gift is this? That let's you in on other people's misery. Unable to help, watching their tragedy helplessly.

Panel 1

We now see a close up of Tony's dressing table. Casually lying there are his Sun City Investigators badge, cell phone, crucifix and a Bible.

Tony/Caption:

Yet I do it night after night. As if I can somehow make up for not being able to help Michael.

Panel 2

Next we view Tony, who is putting on the crucifix, with his head bowed.

Tony/Caption

All I could do was watch you die. From a distance, watch those bastards beat you to death. Seeing it my head and know it was happening, helpless.

Panel 3

Tony is now sitting on his bed his head bowed almost as if in prayer. The atmosphere should be dark and brooding.

Tony/Caption:

I sometimes think that's worse then if I had actually been there with you. Died with you, instead I'm here stuck with the psychic memory.

Panel 4

We notice that the cell phone on Tony's dressing table is beeping. Perhaps we see the beeping as stylized text.

-Page 12-

Panel 1

We now see the cell phone in Tony's hand. It's a close up and we can clearly read the text message on the cell phone screen.

Cell phone Text:

Tony this is Angela, please come to the station. It appears we have a case.

----Angela.

Panel 2

We now observe Tony putting on a dress shirt. Perhaps this is a close up of his chest showing his hands buttoning up his shirt.

Tony/Caption

Maybe that's why I do this; Night after night, peering into people's misery, hoping to avenge them.

Panel 3

We see that Tony is now putting on his over coat and heading towards the door, to leave his apartment.

Panel 4

We see the door close, as if Tony has left us in his apartment and headed out.

Tony/Caption

I'll keep doing it, Michael. For you, for me, for all the people that everyone wants to forget about. Maybe I'll find salvation or meaning in it somehow.

-----------New Chapter-------

He too is a registered paranormal and feeds on artificial human plasma granted by the state.

He is subject to a monthly test to see if he tests positive for having drank human blood. He considers those tests humiliating, but subjects himself to them anyway. They are a necessary evil in his book.

-Page 12-

He enjoys taunting Angela about her wolf-nature, calling her names like "fido" and making references to chew toys when she gets angry.

-Page 13-

John is haunted by his early days when his served a very old and powerful unnamed female vampire.

-Page 14-

Tony Ramos is a troubled young man in his early twenty's. He is an extremely sensitive psychic able to pick up etheric vibrations from objects and places. He uses his abilities in what he feels is a noble cause, keeping the denizens of Sun City safe from paranormal threats.

-Page 15-

In order to block out the psychic input he receives Tony takes an unnamed tranquilizer. He too is haunted by the death of his lover who died a victim of a gay bashing, that Tony witnessed psychically.

-Page 16-

The guilt of watching his lover die helplessly haunts Tony to this day.

-Page 17-

The squad is called to investigate a series of murders Sun City prostitutes. The women have been found with their throats slit and arcane symbols carved into their bodies.

The Night Hunters

Act Two

"Tell me no lies"

Page 12

Angela, Tony and John arrive at the scene of the latest murder. An African-American officer makes a comment about "monstrous freaks" and how the whole lot of them should be exterminated. Angela shoots him a cold look and John says that he remembers when one group of people kept another group of people enslaved because of such thinking. The officer doesn't respond and is asked to leave by Sgt. Nettles.

Page 13

Sgt. Nettles is a heavy set caucasian gentleman in a brown suit. He explains to them that this is the third body found like this in the past month. He is also worried there will be more.

Angela leans closer and examines the symbols on the body. She quickly deduces that they are from the necronomicon. Possibly used to petition the gods of the dead to open the gates to the underworld. She coaxes a visibly nervous Tony over to the scene.

Page 14

He begins to tremble. John rests his hands on his shoulder and tells him to relax, that he's here to do a job and he can't let fear get the better of him. Tony closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. Images of the girls last night flood his brain.

Page 15

He sees her walking down a busy street in a lower class neighborhood. A flashy car pulls up next to her and a mysterious man motions for her to get in. All he can see is the mans devilish grin. Suddenly Tony trembles and crumbles to the ground. He gasps out loud that someone broke psychic contact between him and the young girls spirit before he could get more information. He does remember the license plate number "525EEY".

Page 16

Sgt. Nettles jots down the number and says he'll run a tracer. However, he cautions psychic evidence alone is not admissible in court. The next day the squad gathers in Angela's office. The license belongs to one Eric Thibideaux located on Turrey Lane in the suburbs.

Page 17

John and Angela go to Eric's house to talk to him. Angela walks in leaving John standing in the doorway, Eric realizes that John is a vampire and politely invites him in, with apology. Angela asks Eric where he was a few nights ago. Eric appears taken aback.

Page 18

Angela becomes more aggressive and says that there is evidence that his vehicle has been linked to a murder. Eric looks somewhat upset and sits down. He explains that he was at a company meeting and that his coworkers can vouch for him. John seems uncomfortable in the house and unusually silent.

Page 19

Angela continues to pressure Eric and he admits that his brother Brandon regularly borrows his car. He also confesses that Brandon has not been home in the past few days. Because his brother has a somewhat troubled past he had not yet reported him missing. It's not unusual for him to disappear for a few days and then return. John finally speaks up. "This house reeks of dark magic" he whispers to Angela.

Page 20

Angela asks to see Brandon's room. Eric resists at first but Angela says that she simply will return with a warrant and more officers and that Eric could possibly be considered an accessory to murder. Eric reluctantly takes them to Brandon's room. Stating that he never goes in there.

Page 21

When the enter the room a large bloody pentagram is marked on the floor with melted candles on it's cardinal points. John bends down and touches the pentagram and Angela notes that it's definitely necromancy. Eric is visibly shaken.

Act Three

"Brotherly Love"

Page 22

Angela, Jon and Tony are crowded around a computer in Angela's office. They are looking at Brandon Thibideaux's DMV record. Jon notes that Brandon has been quite transient never settling in one place for long.

Page 23

Tony stares at the photo and says, ‘That mouth it certainly resembles the person in my vision". Angela points out that if Brandon is a Necromancer, he's a rouge one. Jon responds that practicing Necromancy without a license is a felony and that they can bring Brandon in on that alone. Angela decides that she wants to talk to Eric about his brother again. Jon offers to go along and Angela refuses.

She feels that it's time for her to play the "good cop". She also adds that Eric may better respond to her if she talks to him without bringing vampire "muscle" along. Jon decides that he's going to turn in before daylight. Tony offers to stay in the office and go over more records to see if he can turn up any leads intuitively. Jon admonishes Angela that this evening is a full moon and she needs to be in lockup before nightfall.

Page 25

Angela goes to the Thibideaux residence. She rings the bell and receives no answer. As she turns to leave she hears the distinct sound of a door creaking, from behind the house. She goes to the back of the house and notes an old fashioned root cellar that appears to be open. She draws her pistol and descends down the stairs calling for "Mr. Thibideaux, Eric?"

As she descends down the stairs she sees what appears to be a man kneeling with his hands tied behind his back. "Eric" she questions again, touching the mans shoulders. The man falls over revealing that he is dead, his face frozen in horror. Angela gasps, just as someone hits her in the back of the head (shovel?) knocking her unconcious.

Page 27

Tony is hard at work pouring over documents on the computer. Another officer enters the room and asks where Angela is. Tony looks up and the officers mentions that its almost nightfall and Angela is expected in the detention ward. He then makes a howling sound and laughs. Tony picks up his cell and calls John. John picks up and decides that it's better for he and Tony to find Angela themselves rather then having cops looking for her on the street.

Angela regains consciousness and finds herself tied to a Saint Andrews cross, which is in the middle of a pentagram. She is surrounded by robed figures one of them being Eric. Pretty clever, Eric or should I say Brandon she says aloud. Brandon asks her how she knows. She replies that it didn't take a genius to figure it out, but why would he kill his own brother?

Brandon explains that he was blackmailing his brother for practicing Necromancy without a license. They had both secretly practiced since small children, taught by their parents. However, Eric never had the guts to do anything other than small spells. Brandon had always been more adventurous and worked darker magic. When Eric refused to support his brothers outrageous demands, he and Brandon fought. As they struggled Eric fell and hit his head, dying instantly.

Page 30

On his death Brandon assumed his brothers identity and drew a coven of like minded necromancers around himself. They were involved in the "grand experiment'", the resurrection of the dead. Using his brothers corpse as the experiment. They had used the girls as sacrifices for the ritual, hoping that the resurrected zombie would be hungry enough to eat bodies. However, the past experiments failed. They are hoping that on this night of the full moon will be the eve of their success. Angela laughs and says "why do all you amateurs try to pull this crap on the night of the full moon"?

Page 31

As she finishes her sentence the clouds part and the full moon is revealed. Angela begins to transform and the restraints holding her snap and break. The coven breaks into chaos and attempts to run.

Page 32

Angela begins to slaughter the coven members. One of the fleeing coven knocks over a candelabra igniting a fire. Brandon makes it to the top of the stairs, only to be stopped by Jon, followed by Tony. Brandon pulls a pistol and shoots John. This has no effect. Brandon realizing the pistol is useless drops it and pushes past the vampire.

Page 33

Angela-Werewolf knocks Tony and John aside and heads after the fleeing Brandon. She catches up with him and begins to attack him as he screams. As she finishes him off, she is shot by a dart gun, carried by Tony, containing silver nitrate. Forcing her transformation back to her human form.

Page 34

Angela wakes up in the a hospital bed, with her arms chained to the bed. She asks if that is really necessary. John then unlocks her chains. She asks what happens. Tony tells her that the Thibideaux residence burned to the ground. She pauses and expresses concerns and asks what is going to happen to her, since she is quite certain she killed Brandon in her wolf form.

Page 35

John says that Brandon wasn't killed by a wolf, that his charred remains were found in the cellar. As far as anyone knows, he was the victim of a necronomic spell gone awry, that caused a fire. Angela shakes her head and says, "maybe we really are monsters, just like everyone says". Tony replies, "No, we are what keeps everyone safe from the real monsters".
