I usually try to post early, but I've been busy catching up on students' lessons. Then it's weeding the garden, and setting up the tree and decorations, and HOPEFULLY getting some writing time in. I still haven't made my 10,000 word count this week, but am determined to get it done and a little more besides.
So how was your Thanksgiving feast? The turkey was undercooked. LOL I can't get used to my mother's oven. Either it cooks meals too quickly, or too slowly.
So I showed everyone the beautiful turkey, then carved it up to microwave some pieces, just so we could get the show on the road. The turkey continued to cook in the oven in the meantime and was fine for the rest of the meal.
Afterwards, we shared my daughter's birthday cake and my son's pumpkin pie, then played chicken foot dominoes and laughed until we were in tears. Between one college student giving my son extra dominoes when he left the room because he kept winning, to my shouting out that I'd finally gone out first--for the first time!!! (I had the biggest score and kept saying we should let the one with the biggest score win, not the other way around) only to discover my daughter had not played her domino yet. By the time the laughter had died down, and my daughter's boyfriend had tried to get her to thwart me...which she couldn't do...I won. That hand only, of course. On top of that, I fired my mother, the score keeper, when she added someone's high number on to my count--after I had zero for winning. She gave me the zero too. Hey, I can get high numbers all on my own, thank you very much! LOL
Anyway, I planted all morning, we had a great turkey feast, and the games afterwards were really fun.
Today, it's time to get ready for the Christmas holidays! And then pig out on more of that delicious turkey.
Hope everyone is having a nice holiday. What do you do on Black Friday?
