260 website views yesterday? What happened? Not sure. :) Write mysteries, anyone? Promotions are like mystery stories. What promotion works? It's hard to tell. Sometimes sales are immediate, sometimes it takes longer to see interest turn into a sale.
I make award-winning bears and I find it takes a lot of looks at my teddy bear site often before someone finally commits to ordering a bear or two. It's like attending a craft show--tons of people equate to a few sales. Tons of people have to even hear about you before it registers you have a book, or maybe a series of books out.
It can be discouraging in the beginning to not get much of an audience for our works. But it's just like submitting for publication. We have to keep writing, keep editing and keep submitting. We have to keep after it and who knows where it will go?
So I analyze what I did yesterday, besides caught up on my word count for Plight of the Wolf and mowed and weeded. I got a couple of Google alerts for my books on sites...folks who had bought my books and said they were going to read them, and from there, I looked into other sites and "friended" a couple, or whatever they call it...became a follower. And I talked to the owner of All Things Urban Fantasy, great site, and she's hosting me today. I tried to post early this morning but kept getting an error message to Redroom.
And that was it. I did two interviews last night for places that are hosting me, but I didn't post anywhere much, so where did all the interest come from?
Ahh, to comment on someone's blog, it was a Live Journal. I started my own account, not that I need any others, mind you. I'm already swamped with blog posts I have to do. Speaking of which, I've got to do one for my publisher tomorrow...
But maybe that's where I got all the new interest from. I tried to post a blog there today, but alas, I can't remember my password and on my laptop it wouldn't let me receive it by email so...
That was a way though, for me to see if posting on that site had any kind of further impact, if that's where the interest came from in the first place.
Today I had only 150 views. I didn't post much of anywhere, but I think I get residual looks from all the interviews and guest blogs I've done recently too.
But today, I'll be here and through the week, chances at winning a book.
On Friday, I'll be at Dawn Thompson's site, and I'm celebrating with Bitten by Books in their Halloween month-long extravaganza!
Links coming soon!
Hope you all have a super night!
