Need Help Improving Your Website Ranking on Search Engines?

Sunrise in Texas on a fall day.

I write lots of articles a year on writing for Savvy Authors and for chapter newsletters (which get picked up by newsletters with other RWA chapters) and so my name is spread from place to place along with my bio and website and latest release sometimes. I've also written for B&N about true wolf facts and had an interview with the International Wolf Magazine.

So when I saw this article, I wanted to share because she's so right. This is a great way to promote your works that are not--buy my book! But might still help make some sales and bring awareness to your site and your writing. One of the things she mentions is views of your web page and this increases page ranking. Why is this important? If someone is looking for you...they don't have to wade through hundreds of pages on search engines to find you. If you're not on that first page, they might quit looking. You want to be on the first 10 pages. All of them! So the more you "expose yourself," the more likely this will happen!

How do you get this kind of exposure other than writing an article? Guest blogs, your own blog posts, interviews. Your name and title in the tags, your webpage on all blogs, these things will help your website gain more momentum.

When I first started out, I very happily did a search of my name...I was in the boondocks. So I signed up for Link Referral. Paranormal and historical romantic suspense for adults and teensIt's a way for you to get people to look at your site and then you look at their sites and the more you look at, the higher your ranking. It increases your page looks and ultimately increases your page ranking on searches. It was great for a time when I had no one looking at my site until I finally began spreading the word more.

So here's the article and maybe you can try this also if you don't already do this:

Writing content-rich articles for free article marketing sites, such as EzineArticles.com or Associated Content.com that link back to your website, will increase your page ranking, will bring visitors and readers to your website, and will increase others' awareness of what you write. And most important of all, writing articles is not just for nonfiction authors anymore—fiction authors can take advantage of writing articles, too. Topics for fiction writers can include excerpts from your novel or more "how to” type articles.

After your article is processed and published by the article marketing site, your article will get picked up by hundreds of sites, bringing you more exposure and more business, which equals thousands of potential visitors to your site! Websites, ezines and blogs are constantly looking for new content that they're not paying for (that's how they get picked up in the search engines)—so it's a heavenly match, but you have to work at making it happen!

Also just for fun! I loved visiting Scotland and seeing so many castles while I was there, but it was really fun to see one of my Celtic bears (Dundas Clan Bear) repinned to a castle site (Dundas Castle) on Pinterest!

Again, a way of spreading the word about what I'm doing without doing hardly anything at all! :)
