"Tis the season, and Firebrand Literary Agency is taking a holiday from query letters and has invited you to join them! As a gift for the holidays, they've decided to skip the query stage by announcing their first annual Firebrand Query Holiday -- to support authors who want to spend their time and energy
perfecting their manuscripts and not just polishing their sales skills.
They want to read your first chapter!
Beginning on Dec 15 and ending on Jan 15 they will be accepting sample chapters via a unique email address: queryholiday@ gmail.com .
They pledge to review all samples by the end of January, and will respond to those that we are interested in no later than Feb. 1.
For more information go to the Firebrand website at:

In Wolf news, Betrayal of the Wolf will probably become The Bite of the Wolf. At least I can remember that title. I have no idea why the other one won't come to me readily. It's so much better than Leader of the Pack, but still, I can't ever remember it. :( All I can remember is it starts with a D.
But then, I've always had trouble remembering names. I have to really watch my manuscripts to ensure I don't misspell an unusual name, or one that might have a couple of different spellings, or change it entirely to someone else's name in one of my other manuscripts. But then, I'm like that in the real world too. I've tried the ways they teach to remember these things....associate it with something, repeat people's names so that you make sure you've got it, write it down... What is there in a name that makes it so difficult to remember?
Faces, I remember. At least, that's half the battle. Right??? :)
I use the Writes Digest Character-Naming Sourcebook for many of my names, make some up out of the blue, too. Sometimes the names really resonate with me and I never get them wrong...but the rest of the time....
So, how do you go about finding names for your characters in your stories?
Heart of the Wolf, D of the Wolf, The Bite of the Wolf, Winning the Highlander's Heart, The Vampire...In My Dreams....Oh, oh, I've got it, "Destiny of the Wolf."
