Tazmin was born and grew up in Pretoria, South Africa. She is the youngest of four siblings and comes from a family with very close extended family ties. As a child, she spent many holidays abroad and locally. She attended a multiracial private catholic school - Iona Convent - where she was able to experience the ‘rainbow nation’ during the time of apartheid in South Africa. After matriculating, Tazmin attended Wits University for two years, and then got married and moved to Durban, where she now lives with her family. She completed her honours degree in Psychology through Unisa, and went on to become a volunteer counsellor. Secrets of a Muslim Heart is her first published work.
