Okay, this week was the Democratic National Convention. I thought about blogging thru out he week to share my views of everything that took place but I decided to take one blog and go thru the entire week. This is the first time in my life that I have gotten to experience one of these events. I’m sure that this is the first DNCC that was as exiting as it was. Before I get into each day I want to say something really important in this election. Obama brings so much loyalty and respect to the tale. There are no people within the party (politicians) that have anything bad to say about Obama, and there an extreme amount of respect within the party. Just the expressions on the faces of other leaders, as Obama is explained or walks by…you can see he is a superstar to the world. Not because of his looks or popularity…cause he wasn’t popular before now..but because f his brilliance, his running a great campaign defeating the Clinton monster, and his ability to bring people together.
Okay today was the day that started off this 4 day event. It began on August 25th 2008. This was the night I call family night. We got to get a little personal with Michelle and Barack. Starting off with Obama’s sister, Maya Soetero-Ng. Like always..she was beautiful and eloquent and delivered for her brother. After her, and the introduction to Michelle Obama, was Michelle’s brother Craig Robinson. I could not stop cracking up while watching her brother speak! He is like a freakin male version of Michelle. Then seeing them sit next to each other!! It was crazy..of course his face is bigger..but that is Michelle’s brother! Ted Kennedy Oh my God, this man is Pappa Dem. If the Democratic party has an oversee'r, it would be him. Not only has this man just undergone brain surgery AWAKE! He was also suffering from kidney stones while he went on stage and ripped it for Obama. He passed Obama the torch. After that, there is nothing Obama needs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pE_eKhUC9rI
Wow! Well before I “wow”..Ill start off by saying that I could tell that her intentions were to prevent a softer image. I peraonally don’t thinkthe strong black woman, with the powerful voice and much to say…is a bad image…I thinkt hat image is beautiful! Many scary ass Americans are stilll easily intimidated by strong black people so she had to put on her, “im callin your teacher so shut up” voice…She did it well. She said things from the heart and she looked so beautiful! She wore a simple teal dress with a broach and showed the world how human she is. Without even saying anything..she showed the world she was humble, smart, caring, in love, dedicated, strong but soft, not too black (for the ignorant), and first and foremost..behind her man Barack Obama. Oh and the girls! Man if that wasn’t the cutest thing ever…you can tell that Sasha (the oldest) really worries about her daddy…and probably is sick of sharing him with the world. I know this whole election is taking the most out of all of them. Once they are in the whitehouse though, they will embrace it. If you weren’t lucky enough to see it..Ill post the video!
Michelles speech was the finale to day one.
August 26th 2008 was the second day of the Democratic National Convention. This was the day I decided to flip my channel from MSNBC to C-Span. I got sooooo sick of the media making this convention all about the Clintons..and I saw Sebelious was speaking and they didn’t let me hear her..so yea I had to change the channel. Now lets start with Rahm. During the primaries, Rahm Emmanuel made a statement. Since then I have kinda been scared of, and disliked him. More scared though. He always came off as too serious and mean looking. Emmanuel made the comment in regard to Hillary noit dropping out even though she knew she wouldn’t win. Rahm said “well something big may happen that excludes Obama from being able to continueto run.” Im sorry but that shit scared the eff outta me. Not in a OMG let me hide kinda scared..but a “wtf are they planning to do to my candidate” scared. So that was my first impression. I don’t remember his speech that much (not memorable) but his demeanor was cool. I like him now. Iheard him speaking with Tim Brokaw..matter of fact I think tht was when Sebelous was talking on stage..and he seemed like a cool guy. He is a lil handsome too.
Congressman Dennis Kucinich
This man put his heart and soul into this small chunk of time he had to speak. Ill put the video cause he put it better then I can. WAKE THE FUCK UP AMERICA!!
Senator Bob Casey, Jr Speech
I think one of the good speeches tonight was Sen. Casey from PA. Ive known a lot of weed smokers in my lifetime and too me, Casey definitely looks like a weed smoker. He looks like he is always high. I kinda love that about him. Haha he always looks like he wants to laugh and anything seems to go. Also the way he speaks, I could see him hangin out with black guys…that’s just my impression. Caseys speech seemed to drag until he gave the greatest line “That’s not a maverick, that’s a sidekick!” haha that was the greatest shit to me! Then he gave another one..”we cant afford four more years, we wwant foru more months!” hahaha..he will be remembered for those two lines. He is actually one of the people that kinda inspire me to get into politics. Not thru anything he says or does, but the kind of person he is. It shows there are some “real” people that have good intentions..and it makes me want to be a part of it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RZAGbtCHyE Senator Hillary Clinton
Hillary came out and put it down! I will start off with the positive first, like they do when your being evaluated at your job. She came out…she totally backed Barack Obama. Not only did she do it well, she convinced the people. That was my main concern was ..is she convincing. She beat up McCain. So the fact that she did what she was supposed too, and she delivered it well...I am proud of that moment. I think it was effective. Now here comes the negative. The eyes are a window to the soul. She is still frontin and her eyes tell you that she really didn’t mean it. I don’t know how many people can read eyes, luckily not too many cause they all were convinced she was doin it cause she felt it. Then when her husband was in the audience mouthing “I love you”…that shit was a big act for the camera...we all know they haven’t fucked since Arkansas. Not to get graphic on you but I truly don’t feel that they have a marriage built on love. It shows in their negativity and frustrations. Who knows though…I’m not in their home. I just go off what I see. You can tell Michelle and Barack are in love. You can tell Joe and Jill are in love. You can tell that Bill and Hill are in a partnership.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=268ncnoitEc Partnership:A partnership is the relationship existing between two or more persons who join to carry on a trade or business. Each person contributes money, property, labor or skill, and expects to share in the profits and losses of the business.http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/article/0,,id=98214,00.html Anywho… she ended that day with a Bang.
August 27th 2008 was day three of the Democratic National Convention. I kinda loved today, matter of fact this is my second to the most favorite day. Whoever organized this event truly knew how to build momentum. Each day got more exciting yet still kept your interest. Today, in my eyes, had 3 great speeches and a wonderful surprise visit from Obama looking like a star. His suit was beautiful!!! Okay in orderBill ClintonBill Clinton definitely has swag. He also definitely put it down on this night. Verbally that is. He delivered better then Hillary in my eyes. See one thing I noticed a lot of was why to not vote for McCain and not enough of why to vote for Obama. Hillary gave reasons why Obama should be president but they were all based on why we don’t want McCain in office. Bill on the other hand, he gave you the who, the when, and the why! So he was thorough and very eloquent (that is a Leo thing lol). Bill told us from the gate, I am here for Barack Obama ...he went on to thoroughly compliment Obama telling us why he thinks Obama will make an excellent commander and chief. Again though, his eyes didn’t convince me that this speech wasn’t hard for him. Which is understandable back in June, but in August? He should be over it by now. I could even tell in Michelle’s expressions as she waited for him to speak, that she didn’t know what to expect and was a lil worried he wouldn’t deliver. Then as he delivered, you could see the anxiousness leave and the relief set in. Just like Hillary, if he could convince the people, that’s all that matters to me. He did his job and he did it well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3r6xvwPGcY John KerryNow Kerry put it DOWN! He covered everything from Guantanamo to when he got the election swift boated from him. Kerry is a humble good man, and I love that about him. He is one of those guys you wanna take under your wing and make sure no one does anything fowl to him. He clearly looks at this moment as get back. He also loves the fact that it was his night that introduced Obama to the world. You can tell in his speech that he was out for payback and he was gonna rub this shit in the GOP face. I know Gore and Kerry have got to hate Bush. To be publicly humiliated while running for highest office and Bush pulling the rug from under you, has got to hurt. My favorite Kerry line was “Before John McCain Can have a debate with Senator Obama, he needs to finish his debate with himself.” Ha-ha…so real! He was the first speaker, in my eyes, to point out some of the Govt and John McCain’s truest flaws in this campaign.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dO2PAm4iCtE Joe BidenJoe Biden put it down. I don’t have a favorite part cause his speech was more heartfelt and the moment was touching. What I did love was his story. I truly think that he was the wisest choice for Obama as a VP...and only because he has struggled. To me, it is important to have overcome a hardship. Hardships make you better people so I salute Joe Biden.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVH58DeUThg
Now at the end of Joe Biden’s speech, his wife Jill came on stage crying. After she reassured him that she was okay, she told him she had a surprise guest and Obama came out lookin all great! Michelle looked like she wanted to run thru the bleachers to stand by her man on stage. It was a beautiful ending to an exciting day.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEGkZYYEWvI Day FourAugust 28th 2008 was day four of the Democratic National Convention. Today was very entertaining. We got to hear and watch Jennifer Hudson SANG! Also performing was Sheryl Crow, Stevie Wonder, John Legend and Will.I.Am. It was great! What I loved was when the regular folks came up on the stage and told their story. Barney Smith was a drab boring character until he said that the Govt put Smith n Barney before Barney Smith...ha-ha that was a classic!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cJNnS7cQvgBarack ObamaI cant even give you an evaluation on this. All I can say was everything about this speech and the setting was flawless. There isn’t anything that anyone can say after watching this. Here are some videos:
And for those that missed the Tribute:
Ill leave this with a quote from an article I found today regarding Obama compared to other Dem presidents: "The difference between Obama and Clinton (either one) is that the Clintons are like LBJ, and Obama is like JFK, or RFK, or even Reagan. Obama is a personal politician and the Clintons are parliament." -Michael Shaw
