Tooting my own horn? Talking about that tingling feeling of satisfaction when my work is recognized and applauded for a job well done? These are almost taboos, which I am breaking here....
I am pleased to share with my fellow Red Room authors and readers that my novel JERUSALEM MAIDEN, (HarperCollins, June 2011) was listed in first place in Forward National Literature Award under the "historical fiction" category.
Set in the early 1900s at the end of the Ottoman Empire rule of the Holy Land, JERUSALEM MAIDEN is the story of a young woman, destined to be married shortly, when she discovers her talent and passion for art. But visual expression is against the Second Commandment, “thou shalt not make any graven image,” and thus begins her lifelong struggle with God. http://forwardliteratureaward.com/2011_Award_Results.html
