Memoir is a Gateway to Life
Dr Suzanne Covich, once a Huck Finn country girl, will talk about the promise she made to
herself as a child. That is, to write the story of her traumatic abusive childhood in an
Australian country town.
“Books,” she says, “are a gateway to life, a safe place where people can connect, learn and
hopefully take action to right the wrongs of this world.”
It took over 50 years for Suzanne to find the courage to write When We Remember They Call
Us Liars (Fremantle Press, 2012) and she says it is the greatest thing she has ever
done.
“My voice will never be silenced again.”
