where the writers are

This expression means to say or do things that are hurtful or harmful to others. Wittily this blog came about while I was on the phone chit-chatting with my sisters. We discussed in depth how many folk display OUT-OF POCKET then to later try and monitor how others respond.

This is my thing, we can’t say and do what we want to others, and monitor how they respond. Sadly this is one of those subtly evils that the enemy employs to enforce fighting among the family of God and the physical family of man as well. “What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Isn’t it the whole army of evil desires at war within you?” (James 4:1). I mean really most of the time the reason folk are OUT-OF POCKET is because they have many evil desires to prove a point to themselves and others.

One of my sisters had a wonderful example, she said “One of her ex-boyfriends would accompany her with his friends, and sometimes he would become ugly (saying embarrassing things) and the moment she would refute (aloud) rebuttal (contradict) what he said. He would cleverly say “I’m sorry” in order to shut her down, and when that wouldn’t pacify her he would say she was embarrassing him, she was talking too loud, and how he didn’t like public disorder, then he would hurl “Let’s go.” She said her response would always be the same “Don’t dish out what you can’t take in.” In so many words don’t display OUT-OF POCKET behavior, and become embarrassed when folk don’t respond according to how you assume they should.

My friends, allow me to reiterate "when we become OUT-OF POCKET with others we don’t get a chance to monitor their response."  The enemy (Satan) is very cunning and deceptive, always in search of a door to enter. Please get this! When we don’t place the gatekeeper (Holy Ghost) before our speech we never know what we may get in response to our own  OUT-OF POCKET.

For example if you start an argument with someone, you may not get an argument in return you may just get flesh on flesh (physical altercation.) If you disrespect someone you may not get a laugh in response, you may just get a loud voice telling you off.

Please understand, we can act as though the other folk done blown things out of proportion all we like, but the truth of someone’s character will always outweigh someone else OUT-OF POCKET. Someone once said to me “you can only hold your breath underwater so long, before you have to come up and breathe.” What he was saying was “It want be long before folk will know exactly who’s really OUT-OF POCKET.

One of my other sisters said to me “Susie can OUT-OF-POCKET be expressed in the contents of feelings and emotions? “Absolutely.” I said. “Okay, then sometimes you become OUT-OF-POCKET.”  “In reference to what?” I replied. “In reference to other folk behavior, you have been known to become over ally sensitive according to the actions of others.” “What do you mean?” I replied.  “When folk become OUT-OF POCKET you take it so personal when in fact those folk are being who they are." “True dat!” I said.  We were humored with my response, and we laughed to pieces.

All the while I was having all of these enlighten moments. Admittedly my sister was right; I’m definitely OUT-OF POCKET in how I respond to others behavior. One of my friends said to me a long time ago “If you ask God to assist with you in a weak area in your life, how in the world do you expect him to assist you if the weakness isn't revealed by others? The weakness must appear before you so that you can recognize this is “my weakness” that is now before me for my freedom to emerge. I can now relinquish the illusions of that weakness and be free, or I can ignore it, and remain in bondage to it.  How awesome is that!

My friends, I was thinking how Jesus responded to OUT-OF POCKET folk he used many parables to bring about freedom (conviction) for those that were OUT-OF POCKET. “All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right.” (2 Timothy 3:16). Jesus turned over tables to display his love for his Father. “Jesus made a whip from some ropes and chased them all out of the temple.” (John 2:15). Ignorantly those that were OUT-OF POCKET accused Jesus of being the Satan and a drunken, etc.

Interestedly Jesus never sinned when he became angered. Just as well, when folk become OUT-OF POCKET with us we shall not sin. Vice-versus when we become OUT-OF POCKET (sometimes we do) we must not become angered that this weakness has been revealed. This is freedom! Please remember we are to call out evil when we experience it, and when we display it, and we must only defend ourselves if necessary, and we are to never defend our behavior when it is evil displayed.

My prayer is that we would daily upon arising seek God, and  allow his gatekeeper (Holy ghost) to be constant in our speech and action so that we want allow the enemy (Satan) to employ us to become OUT-OF POCKET with others. “Take control of what I say, O Lord, and keep my lips sealed.” (Psalm 141:1).
