where the writers are

I’ll be applying this expression in reference to promoting the gospel of Jesus Christ to win over those who enter or cross our path. As God would have it to be I’M DOING THIS arrived before me while I was lying out on the beach in the Bahamas (this time reading Angels In My Room “Nawanna L. Miller”).

A gentleman asked us if we were interested in the water sports. My sister was highly interested therefore we allowed him to try and sway us into purchasing a package (considering there were many others with likewise packages). This young man price was unbelievable according to the resort prices, therefore we asked him to come back as we needed to ask others about his honesty (he reassured us his prices were the best). Remember a couple of weeks ago we discussed how ALL ISN’T TRUE; indeed all what the young man said wasn’t true.

As soon as we settled down to return to that which we were doing a young man slowly walks past us as if he was in slow-motion, he appeared as though he had much on his mind.  My spirit leaped internally (I knew in the wholeness of me there was something I was supposed to do or say). I prayed and obeyed. “Do you know anything about the water sports?” I asked. “I sale waters sports, would you like to buy a package?” “What’s your price?” He told us the price ( it was the same price as the other guy) however the other package was lengthier. My sister quickly told him about the other guys package.  His response, “Ms. that guy lied to you all (God will always expose evil when our hearts are pure), and I’m going to confront him about that, because we don’t want to be known as liars among the tourist.” My sister said some very interesting words, and they went off to expose the lying salesman’s, in which he denied it all. Nonetheless at that point we decided to go the next day.

Divinely ordered, the young man introuduced himself, and sit comfortably at the end of my lounger, and said “I'm Dolly Boy, Who are you? I kindly responded “I'm Susie Hill a child of the most High God, and that's my sister Yolanda. Be reminded, I usually don't introduce myself in that manner, however it was graciously accepted.  His response “I knew there was something about you, being so kind natured and all.  As he taken upon himself to inquire where we were from, I politely interrupted, and asked if he would grant me the privilege to put pen to paper our conversation. He laughed, and said “Are you some kind of writer?” “Yes, I write a lot of stories about God, and his creation, and his creatures.” He laughed, and assured me that I could write whatever I needed to tell this story.”

As he started to talk, I started to write then several Natives walked past with exclamation “Do you know this is our local rapper Dolly Boy!” I said in laughter (repeatedly) “Nice to meet you Mr. Dolly Boy.” We all laughed, and continued to talk. Dolly Boy shared with me in depth about his rapping career, and how it all came about. He then asked me would I like to hear a few lyrics, I obliged to listen, he then said “I promise it’ll be the clean version.” I smiled, and said “Thank you. I appreciate that. He smiled, and rapped the clean version of the song. I was really impressed, and moved with compassion, because his lyrics spoke for where he’d been and where he was at in his life. I inquired about his many tattoos, and he explained in depth about how each one came about. He taken off his glasses and he asked me would I like to know why his face, and upper body was seared like it was, and I said yes. In depth he explained to me his horrific childhood, pains, trials, miseries, sorrows, and the awesome power of God that spared his life.

I listened attentively as he talked passionately about his life, not missing one word, all the while writing down as much as I could and storing the rest in my long term memory. As God would have it to be, I asked him would he like to pray, and he obliged to pray and so we did. He then thanked me for being kind to listen to his life story. Please understand, regardless of where life takes us we should exclaim I’M DOING THIS in reference to God, regardless of what it looks, like, or feels like.

I find that one of the reasons that most of us can’t exclaim I’M DOING THIS for God (regardless of the price self will pay) is because we don’t ask God about the importance of everyone that enters or crosses our path. “If any of you need wisdom, ask God to give it to you, God gives freely to everyone. He doesn’t find fault.”

The very next day Dolly Boy met us on the beach, and I graciously handed him the money to pay for our water ride, and we had a blast that was far and beyond of what we expected. Later that evening Dolly Boy, and his cousin yellow picked us up from the hotel, and taken us on a vast tour of the Island (good and bad). We met some of the most beautiful people. My sister played back-gammon with one of the native pros (in the ghetto), and she lost (which she blamed it on being rusty, from not playing in years). We then went to visit yellows younger siblings, who were filled with joy to meet us. We then went on a tour of eight mile rock, all the while these two young men opened their hearts up to share their faith, family,  joys, disappointments, rich history, and so much more.

Without a doubt, these two men shared things in which God would only allow them to do so, while taking us places in which only God would allow us to go. I prayed and prayed for all I grasped and experienced. These two young men were the high light of our trip, they were respectable, honest, loving, and just sheer phenomenal!

Now I clearly understand how Paul made himself available to promote the Gospel wherever he went and whoever he met. “For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more; and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law; as under the law; to those who are without law. As without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law, to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, which I might by all means save some. Now this I do for the gospel’s sake that I may be partaker of it with you.” (1 Corinthians 9:19-23). In so many words Paul was saying I’M DOING THIS for the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Certainly this passage of scripture has been highly debated and gravely polluted and diminished, even though the simplicity of Pauls’ instructions has been bulked to mean one thing “All followers of Christ should have one agenda be ready always to share the gospel of Jesus Christ by being an example, and we DO THIS as to never, ever, ever compromise or diminish the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Pleasingly as Paul was to be obedient to his death, it appears he never missed the opportunity to share with others the love, forgiveness, peace, and salvation of Jesus Christ regardless of the era and culture. Then again if he would’ve focused on himself, era, and culture he could’ve easily missed many opportunities that are available in I’M DOING THIS!
