To commemorate the late Bob Moog's 78th birthday, Google has created an interactive homepage doodle, a playable synthesizer called the "Moog Google Doodle."
Moog, who turned electric currents into sound with his modular, portable synthesizers, changed the way music was made and blazed the techno-trail for the likes of now ubiquitous cellphones and iPods.
The Moog chapter of Raggin' Jazzin' Rockin' was fascinating to research and so much fun to write—I wish I'd had an opportunity to hang out with the great Bob Moog, who was truly a genius. Check out this fab bit of footage from the 2004 biopic Moog.
