I have been away from home since December 23. I am visiting my children and grandson in Missouri, while we await the birth of my granddaughter. I treasure these moments with my loved ones, but it has been quite awhile since I have slept in my own bed and loved on my old cat. And this morning I realized that I have had no urge to write while away from home. I have had to force myself to write a small stone each day for the Mindful Writing Challenge. I am not even going to bother trying to analyze the reasons why, because they don’t matter. What matters is that I write. It is my anchor. So this lack of motivation ends now.
Neil Gaiman has said, “You have to finish things — that’s what you learn from, you learn by finishing things.” To which I add, “You can’t finish until you have begun.” And so I begin. Happy New Year!
