Words. My mind is full of them today. I can't escape the torrential flood of words rolling through my mind. Some good like delicious, some not as good like afraid, but all parts of me.
I love the written word and the spoken word. The beauty of both remind me of fiery red or bright golden leaves in the fall, the intricately laced snowflakes of winter, the green, dewy grass that first bursts forth in spring, and the mesmerizing waves crashing onto the shore in summer. The beauty of a word can be in the way a word looks upon a page, the feeling it evokes deep inside when heard from another's lips, or the way it feels rolling off of your tongue. Words can caress you, hold you, and release you. Words can spark deep passion that burns as a fire lighting you from within. Just a few simple words have started wars and ended them, inspired men to flee the safety of home and begin a republic guaranteeing life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as inalienable rights, launched a thousand ships, and nurtured untold numbers of unending love affairs. The use of words can convey intelligence or ignorance, knowledge or lack of understanding, love or hate, fears unseen or bravery unregaled. We have all waited for words never spoken, held in words that needed speaking, and spoken words that changed a path for better or for worse. Words build cities, make kings and presidents, topple prejudice, and sometimes, when we are very lucky, bring us to a love that is true. Words are home to me and today my house is overflowing.
