On the corner of 19th and Judah, there's a Methodist Church. Directly across the street, there's a Chinese Baptist Church. Next to the Chinese Baptist Church, there's a house, and on the other side of the house there's a Japanese Baptist Church. Several more houses, then the 19th Avenue Baptist Church, aka the Church of the Nations.
I pass through that intersection several times a week. Every so often I get to thinking about that house between the Chinese Baptist Church and the Japanese Baptist Church, at where it sits and how it looks right across the street at the Methodist Church and what must Sunday mornings be like there and I wonder how the residents of that house feel about the plethora of religion they live amongst.
Usually I'm only able to think about that when I'm heading up 19th to the park, as on the return trip, I'm focused on getting back to the house and what the children and I have in our schedule that morning, but the other day, I thought about that house among the churches and took a good look at it when heading down 19th away from the park.
There's a skull and crossbones flying from the roof.
