Here is the ad I just posted on Craigslist. How does it look? Reassuring? Weird? Threatening? If you have any comments or suggestions, please post them so I can make my ad as reassuring and non-weird as I can.
"Times are tough all the way around and I thought an old-fashioned barter arrangement might be the way to go to solve my problem and yours. I am a 47y/o woman with an 18y/o paraplegic daughter (she is in an manual chair). We want to move to the Tri-Valley to be near my parents and so my daughter can attend Las Positas College in the fall, but we can't afford the housing prices in the area. Right now we live outside Sacramento. I was wondering if there were anyone in the Tri-Valley area who needed in-home care (paraplegic, quadriplegic, other disability, Alzheimer's) and who had room in their home for my daughter and me, so that we could trade a few hours a day of my excellent caregiving in exchange for housing. I have a background in emergency and nursing care, currently work part-time with Alzheimer's clients, and have been providing all usual care for my daughter since she was injured two years ago. I am experienced in wound care, bladder and bowel care, hygiene assistance, etc. I'm also a good driver and have a clean record with DMV. My daughter and I don't drink or smoke. Anyone out there think this could work for them or for someone they know? I am looking to move in the summer, July or August, as school starts for my daughter 08/17; this would give us plenty of time to get to know each other and get details ironed out."
Thanks for any help and advice,
