I just love receiving free books. It seems like I’m getting them all the time now. And it’s not even my birthday. Take today, when I won a copy of Mingmei Yip’s new novel, Song of the Silk Road (Kensington, 2011).
It’s such a beautiful cover. And I want that qipao.
If the story is anything like her last novel, Petals from the Sky (Kensington, 2010), I know I’ll love it. I won Yip’s book on the blog, The Spirited Woman. To enter the free raffle, I simply left a comment on one of Yip’s posts. Yay!
I’ve also won a handful of books on Good Reads. At the beginning of every month, they send out an e-newsletter with a chance to win dozens of books. To date, I’ve received four or five from them. The last book I won on Good Reads was Frederick Kempe’s Berlin 1961 (Putnam, 2011)
I’m always up for a good Cold War story. The colder the better.
A couple months ago I received an e-mail from Amazon. I haven’t reviewed a huge amount of books there, but it must have been enough because they asked me to join their Vine program. I can receive free books (two a month) if I review 75% of the free books they send me.
My next Vine book is Alan Paul’s Big in China (Harper, 2011).
I’ve obviously got my hands full with these books, but if you know of any other websites with book giveaways, I’d love to hear about them.
