What Were the Hanging Gardens of Babylon?

Full of lush ferns and palm trees, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon were built on the roof of the huge palace of the King of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar, who reined between 604 to 561 B.C.E. This Babylonian king destroyed Jerusalem and captured the Jews who then refused to bow before his golden image. Nebuchadnezzar's Hanging Gardens were listed as one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
