When WWII broke out, more than 40% of Germany's working population was employed in industry. The country realized the value of scientific research in regard to industry and made tremendous progress, which the Nazis shuffled into military progress enabling Germany to build modern military tanks, bombs and rockets. After the war, the United States Army's Field Information Agency, Technical, known as FIAT, had German scientists prepare a review of Germany's Science programs. This review disclosed advances the Germans had made during WWII. In all, 84 volumes were published.
