The Royal With a Bible and a Chain
King Henry XIII ordered that all churches have a bible chained to a desk. The reason it was chained was because back in 1537 bibles were costly. During the 1200's the price for building two arches of the London Bridge was $125.00 and the cost for a copy of the bible was $150.00.
