Influences

In the field of American poetry, I was influenced firstly by my College English teacher, Clark McKowen, and secondly, by the Santa Cruz poet William Everson, for whom I served as a teaching assistant at UCSC. This mentoring relationship led me to read Robinson Jeffers and Walt Whitman. In the field of Jungian analytical psychology, I was influenced by Jungian analysts Donald Sandner, John Beebe, and Murray Stein. From my contact with these relatinships, I was led to read D. H. Lawrence, Emily Dickinson, and Herman Melville.
