Now this is how you protest the sale of the Huffington Post to AOL. All those unpaid bloggers who took to Twitter to complain that Arianna Huffington is getting rich while they’re getting nada should take a page from Stephen Colbert, who last night announced the launch of a new website, Colbuffingtonrepost.com, to do to Huffpo what it does to everyone else — namely, aggregate their content to build its own traffic.
“It has got everything you love about the Huffington Post, because it’s the Huffington Post with a new border around it that says the Colbuffington Repost,” he said. And that’s pretty much what it is.
And it’s for sale! For $316 million, or $1 million more than AOL paid for Huffpo. “Arianna, if I find a buyer, I promise to give you the same cut you’re giving me,” Colbert said — in other words, nothing. This even though Huffpo has an entire page dedicated to Colbert.
Huffington won’t feel too burned by the joke: All the links on the Colbuffington Repost go to Huffpo pages.
