I will be writing a short story collection for college as part of a Guided Unit assignment, I don't actually need to start writing any time soon - and I have coursework that is due way before it - but I really want to start working on the idea for one of the stories I had yesterday, The first draft of short story I need to write for another assignment is due relatively soon and I should be working on that, but do you ever get those days where you're so stuck in one genre or medium that the idea of doing anything else seems silly? My head isn't in the high school satire mood it needs to be for me to work on that story, it's in a paranormal ghost-housey type mood instead. So I'm gonna start on my plan for that story, and move back to the other short story either tomorrow or Friday, I'm not low on time anyway.
I guess what started the mood was the fact that I started to read "Horror Stories" which is a collection of, you guessed it, tomatoes, by Edgar Allen Poe; H.P Lovecraft; Algernon Blackwood; Ambrose Bierce; Arthur Machen; M.R. James; Robert Louis Stevenson; and Franz Kafka. It was only 50p on iBooks which was awesome.
So yeah, I'm gonna work on that a plan today; but not really a strict plan, I'll spend most of the time looking at spooky buildings and urban legends on 'tinternet before writing down any scene synopses.
