Ghosting/Collaboration panel at ASJA writers' conference
Blog Post by Stephanie Golden - Mar.22.2012 - 1:14 pm
My panel for next month's ASJA Writers Conference next month is set: agent Madeleine Morel, prolific ghost Nancy Peske, and me. Here's our list of topics (in formation, as they say):
- Does it matter if your name's not on the cover?
- Deal-breakers from the writer's point of view
- Do's and don'ts of the writing process
- Creating a relationship that's businesslike but appropriately personal
- Why collaborations may fail
- How to structure the collaboration agreement
- One agent versus two agents
- Should the writer sign the publishing contract?
- What if the advance doesn't cover the writer's fee?
If books aren't your area of interest, check the conference website. Panels cover print and online writing skills and markets, promotion, building your platform, and more.

Got the Girl Scouts' Writer badge (the only one that interested me) when I was 12: that signaled the future. I began writing fiction, but discovered that what really compelled me was literary nonfiction—especially once I developed a way to use a central image...
