I was born with red hair and southern sass in the always laid back city of New Orleans. My love for poetry started in high school when my English teacher, Ms. Gomez, assigned a poetry reading for us in class, and I have been thankful to her since then. I attended the University of New Orleans and found my strength was in descriptive writing. My writing professor was very encouraging and convinced me to stick with it. Tragically, my father died unexpectedly at the early age of 40, and I left college and my dreams of writing to work full-time to help my mother take care of our family.
Today, I am the mother of a wonderful little boy whom I refer to as my sunshine. I am currently a technical writer, but I find myself wanting to do more. I began writing poetry recently and have met some incredible writers/poets to help me find my voice along the way. In my spare time I am the co-founder and CEO of the non-profit organization World Wide Word Radio Network (WWWRN) with Rafael F. J. Alvarado and S.A. Griffin as the other two co-founders. I also host the show, Between the Sheets: Conversations with Publishers and Editors and the newest show Neutral Ground. Occasionally I co-host with Roy K. Johnston on his show, Cerebral Meditations.
