What a surprise I got yesterday. And not a very pleasant one. I went to the movies with my daughters only to see a preview for an upcoming movie whose theme is very similar to a novel I've completed and currently revising. What??? Am I too late now? Will it look like I'm copying the movie? Granted, the movie trailer looks a lot more exciting and thrilling than my novel, but still... The movie is also in historical times where mine is in current time, but the overall theme is the same. So, I jumped on Google and checked out exactly what the movie is about. A small sigh of relief, it's not quite what my book is about. Not quite. Yet the topic is the same. So, should I now drop everything and finish my revisions and try to get queries sent out or should I put it aside for a while and continue editing and revising a romantic suspense novel? I think I need more hands for editing several novels at a time. What would you do in a case like this?
