where the writers are
Needed a Little Touch of Humanity

I was feeling very removed from society today so I came to Starbucks to sip on chai and write. While still technically alone, there's so much go on around me and I'm back among the living. I think many writers suffer from solitude because writing really is a solitary activity. I have plenty of friends, and being a single mother with 3 teenage daughters, I'm not really ever alone, but when I'm engrossed in writing, I am in my own head and sometimes need a break from myself. I don't need a break from writing, because as I said, I'm here at Starbucks writing, but I just need to see and hear humanity around me. Plus, you can't go wrong with a hot chai latte and that wonderful moist pumpkin bread!
