As the 10 year 9/11 anniversary comes closer, I remember, as most people do, exactly where I was when it happened. I was in Montana attending a wetland training workshop. I was away from my children, which made it so much worse when I turned on the TV that morning and saw one of the Towers on fire. I didn't know right away what happened until the commentator explained a plane flew into the tower. I assumed it was some horrific accident until I then saw a second plane hit the second tower. Immediately I thought of my children back home in Reno with their grandma. I couldn't get through on the phone right away and had to go to class, but no one else in the class, including the instructors could do much but watch the TV. We were all so worried and concerned, and all trapped in Montana because the airports closed down. Well, long story short, I managed to get back home on a flight that had just opened up. Moments after landing in Reno, they closed the airports again. It felt so good to be back home with my children and know that they were safe. On Sunday, I'll remember that feeling and be so thankful that I have my children with me now.
