I was born in Cambridge, Mass., and later attended Bennington College (BA), Columbia University (MA), and the Union Institute (PhD). I have published two books of poetry: THAW (Inwood/Horizon Press, 1969) and LIFTING WATER (Crowfoot Press, 1975), and am working on a third entitled PIECES OF THUNDER. I currently serve as poetry editor for BRIDGES, a Jewish feminist journal and am Professor of English at Siena Heights University. As well, several of my plays have been produced, including: WILLING (Attic Theatre, 1983 premiere) and THE SIGN OF A FREE MAN (Jewish Ensemble Theater, 1999, Spring Showcase). I also have begun to write screenplays (WILLING, THE SIGN OF A FREE MAN, THE DEAL WITH CLAIRE BROOKE), and began working on RASA during two 2007 Writing Residencies at the Ragdale Foundation and the Djerassi Artist Program.
