This play is inspired by real historical events. Twenty-one young American POWs refused repatriation when the armistice was signed to end the Korean War (1950-53), which scandalized America at the time and for years to come. Of the 21 “Turncoat GIs" all but one eventually returned to their homeland. Among the American POWs still unaccounted for, some are believed to be alive today. And even today no one knows what life behind the "Bamboo Curtain" was like for those who had chosen to go to China.
A staged reading of Twin-Sun Rive was sponsored by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences New York on March 24, 2008 in the HBO Building (Produced by Emmy-winning Louisa Burns-Bosogno and Ellen Muir; directed by Pam McDaniel).
