Although I have received many beautiful and memorable Christmas gifts over the years, there is one that means more to me than words can describe. In 2006, my mother gave me Christmas-themed china – a place setting for four. Neither of us knew that it would be her last Christmas gift to me; she died unexpectedly the following August. Each Christmas since then, I’ve added to the set, using some pieces for eating and others for decorating. I will continue this new tradition for as long as the pattern is available. It’s my way of continuing to celebrate Christmas with my mom.
