Filipinos were known to be very helpful especially during the time when help is really needed. Here in Philippines, we have this term “bayanihan”. just like in this video you will see how we filipinos help eachother and you will also see how typhoon ondoy wrecked some places here in manila.
“Bayanihan” is the Filipino term we use for camaraderie.
“Bayanihan” here in the Philippines could be shown in different ways but let’s take the disaster brought by typhoon “Ondoy” as an example that “Bayanihan” is alive and kicking in the hearts of every Filipinos.
The disaster brought by typhoon “Ondoy” made many Filipinos, especially those in Marikina, homeless and left with nothing. It is because the great flood caused by typhoon “Ondoy”, which also killed many Filipinos, why many of our kababayan must start again with nothing.
During the typhoon, most of us were shocked by the strength of “Ondoy”, we have never expected that typhoon “Ondoy” could really brought this kind of curse. Nevertheless, I was also amazed by the strength of these affected Filipinos. It was amazing that they could still manage to smile despite the disaster made them left with nothing by typhoon “Ondoy” and how they help eachother in order to survive the flood.
While I was at home watching news about the disaster brought by typhoon”Ondoy”, how I wish I could go there and volunteer my help but since it was impossible because I was really far from the affected areas, I just prayed for them.
Maybe some would think that what I did was nothing and it did not help anybody, but I assure that they are wrong because prayer is very powerful. You would never understand it, not unless you learn how to pray and trust God.
Everyone could join “Bayanihan” in different ways and faces. It doesn’t matter if it’s directly or indirectly. The main point is you do what you can to help the people in needs.
